How to reverse the effect of negative Law of Attraction?

My step-dad had my husband and I watch “the Secret,” the movie on the Law of Attraction. I think it had to opposite effect that it’s supposed to on people. Now my husband thinks that he should have all of the things he wants, but they aren’t coming to him. But he still wants to go by stuff we don’t have money for. Is there any proof behind “the law of attraction”?

Is there any academic proof that supports this claim? I am talking about scholarly journals, scientific books, biological arithmetic and/or physics evidence or data that can provide any sort of proof behind their claims to be true. Even psychological or sociological data can used, just as long as it’s scholarly material.
Please keep in mind that I am not looking for discussion boards, websites, or articles of people tell their success stories. To me, that’s not scholarly material.
If you know of anything academic sources that have researched the law of attraction, could you please post them?
